Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my data stored?

All your properties and expenses are stored locally on your device. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

How do I export my expenses for my accountant?

On the Summary tab, tap Share to export a Schedule E summary CSV for the selected year. On the Expenses tab, tap Share to export your full expense log. Both open in the iOS share sheet, so you can send them via Mail, Files, AirDrop, and more.

How are expenses categorized?

Every expense is tagged to an official IRS Schedule E (Part I) category — advertising, repairs, insurance, mortgage interest, utilities, and so on — so your totals line up with the form.

Do I have to assign each expense to a property?

No. Properties are optional. You can log an expense without a property, or tag it to one for a per-property breakdown.

Does Rental Expenses work offline?

Yes. The app works completely offline. No internet connection or account is required.

Is this tax advice?

No. Rental Expenses helps you organize your records. It is not tax advice — please verify categories and rules with a qualified tax professional.
